Action 1 of 4

We use donations to

Fund Research

FORGE is committed to ensuring every penny or cent raised to support those affected by rare genetic diseases is used effectively. That’s why our research programmes are designed for maximum efficiency.

We will use the funds raised to support projects approved by the world experts on our scientific advisory group. We may also support existing projects aligned with our mission. By staying informed on the latest developments, we aim to avoid duplicating research efforts and unnecessary costs. This ensures we can offer our support where it will have the greatest impact for patients.

Action 2 of 4

We use donations to

Create Community

Patients affected by rare diseases are often isolated from others with the same condition, sometimes even continents apart. That’s why FORGE operates globally, connecting with those affected to offer support and making peer connections possible.

We want to connect small numbers of patients worldwide and provide meaningful services that inspire renewed hope for the future.

Action 3 of 4

We use donations to

Spread the word

Spreading awareness about rare genetic diseases is key to our work.

We aim to:

Educate and inform affected families,
helping remove their sense of isolation.

  • Show patients and caregivers how
to manage their conditions.
  • Raise awareness and foster networking
among professionals, maximising valuable
time and resources, and minimising duplication.
  • Ensure research breakthroughs are
effectively transferred when possible.

We also intend to contribute to public and clinical knowledge about rare genetic disorders, to improve outcomes for those affected.

Where we will be spending your money

We are currently establishing FORGE by bringing in the staff and resources needed to fulfil our mission. We are doing this by connecting with charitable trusts and foundations and leveraging our networks to secure support from major donors. FORGE trustees intend to apportion the funds we secure as follows:

Where your money will go

20%: Patient Support Services

  • Provide emotional and peer support for patients and their families
  • Develop resources and educational materials
  • Organise support group meetings and workshops.

40%: Research Funding

  • Support research projects aimed at understanding rare genetic diseases
  • Fund clinical trials for new treatments or therapies
  • Collaborate with researchers and institutions to advance scientific knowledge.

40%: Advocacy and Awareness

  • Raise awareness about rare genetic diseases through campaigns and events
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and policy changes at local and international organisations to improve patient care.
